Mirabel is a Canadian city in Quebec located in the Laurentides region, about twenty kilometers northwest of Montreal. Exercising some MRC powers, it is one of the largest municipalities in southern Quebec.

With a total area of 486.06 km2, Mirabel is the largest municipality in the Montreal metropolitan area. This particularity, due to the merger of several municipalities in the 1970s during the construction of the monumental Montreal-Mirabel International Airport, explains from an urban planning point of view the heterogeneous ensemble that Mirabel forms. Highly agricultural, the city's population is spread across different village centers. In addition, the urban area of several neighboring municipalities overflows into its territory.

The city is roughly bounded by the Rivière du Nord (to the north), various roads and farmland (to the west and south), the Laurentian Highway (to the east) and the urban area of Saint-Jérôme (to the northeast). Its territory is crisscrossed by rows and roads. It is crossed from north to south by the Arthur-Sauvé Road (Route 148), Curé-Labelle Boulevard (Route 117) and the Laurentian Highway. From east to west, Highway 50 is the main artery.

Due to its very important agricultural vocation, Mirabel is crossed by dozens of small waterways. Among them is the Rivière du Chêne. Mirabel also has a few forests and woodlands, including two large public parks: the Bois de Belle-Rivière Regional Park and the Domaine-Vert Park. Its relief is rather flat, fluctuating around fifty metres and rarely exceeding 80 metres. To the southwest, in the Oka hills in the Saint-Benoît sector, Mirabel reaches a maximum altitude of 150 meters.
